Ingredients

  • 300 g lean beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 350 g broccoli florets
  • 1 tbsp low-salt soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tsp cornstarch, plain flour, or arrowroot
  • 60 ml (about 1/4 cup) water
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds, to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Toss the sliced beef with the cornstarch (or plain flour / arrowroot) to coat.
  2. Sear the beef in the olive oil over high heat for 2 to 3 minutes, then set aside.
  3. Stir-fry the broccoli, garlic, and ginger for 4 minutes, adding the water a splash at a time to steam until just tender.
  4. Return the beef, add the soy sauce and sesame oil, and toss for 1 minute until glossy.
  5. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve.
